About The Savage Mind

The Savage Mind is an independent publication and digital creative hub launched in September 2025 by Iain Eccleston as a platform to express an existential vision.

Rooted in paradox and pluralism, The Savage Mind strives to weave Philosophy, Theology, Psychology and the Arts into a holistic, integrative creative meta-narrative. One that holds the complexity of the human condition in awe, despair and terror.

At it's core, this project is about presence. The presence of a commitment to the centre of ultimate value that cradles our collective unconscious. A commitment to the burning bush that so many of us have forgotten.

This project stands beyond grand narratives, tribalism and institutions. It is a commitment to transcendence. A reluctant acceptance of being-in-the-world, and an invitation to forge the courage to become.

The Savage Mind will regularly share original music, essays, blogs, videos and ideas drawn from the existential corners of Philosophy, Psychology and Theology.

Sometimes, this will take the form of an engagement with the world, sometimes an engagement with beyond it. An essay here. A prayer there.

None of this is for attention. Those honoured by the world have their full reward.

No – its because it has to be done.
Because to remain silent, is to concede ground.
To remain silent is to place the lighted lamp under a basket, instead of on the stand for the whole house to see.

Perhaps it's all for nothing. Perhaps we will never know.
Perhaps that's the way it was always meant to be.
